What Is Chiropractic Care and what conditions does it treat?
Chiropractic care is a non-invasive, hands-on health care approach focused on the neuro-musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors practice a manual approach and are trained to detect and correct problems in the spine, often before a patient is even aware they exist. Chiropractic care utilizes careful orthopedic examination of the body to guide patient-specific and evidence-based education, physical therapy, and rehabilitation exercise. Chiropractic treatment is often recommended for a variety of injuries and conditions, including chronic headaches, back and neck pain, sports injuries, herniated discs, fibromyalgia, repetitive strain injuries, and osteoarthritis. Chiropractic care may be used in conjunction with physiotherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, and an exercise and rehabilitation program.
What Can I Expect from Wellness House’s Chiropractic Care?
Our chiropractors at Wellness House use the latest proven, evidence-based chiropractic techniques and treatments, including manual spinal manipulative therapy (manual therapy). Manual therapy involves using a combination of joint manipulations, muscle and nerve therapy, acupuncture, home exercises, and rehabilitation to treat your joints, muscles, and nerves. Chiropractic manipulation involves gently guiding joints in the spine or extremities through their ranges of motion, and when performed with speed can result in a popping sound.
Our practitioners primarily use their hands to apply this sudden force to a specific joint. Manipulations are performed on a padded, adjustable table for minimal discomfort to our patients. Manual therapy helps alleviate pressure on your body’s joints while improving overall nerve function. This approach allows us to restore motion to restricted joints, loosen tight muscles, and release pinched nerves. It can be recommended for a variety of conditions including back, neck, or headache pain during the recovery from injury.
Lower Back Decompression Using Advanced Mechanical Tables
Spinal decompression is a chiropractic technique involving gently stretching your spine using motorized traction. Our clinic utilizes advanced mechanical tables that allow our practitioners to decompress and stretch out your back. This technique offers tremendous relief from slipped or herniated discs, spinal stenosis, pinched nerves in the lower back, and other chronic conditions causing pain.
Low-Force Activator Adjusting for Young to Older Patients and those in-between
Our chiropractors also apply a gentle form of activator adjusting utilizing a well-researched hand-held instrument to deliver a low-force adjustment. The doctor uses this activator to adjust the patient’s spine and other joints in the body to restore alignment, reduce joint irritation and dysfunction, and decrease pain. This gentle adjustment technique is often utilized for patients who are not comfortable with or who do not respond well to manual spinal manipulative therapy, as well as for young children, seniors or anyone in between.
What Are Some of the Benefits of Chiropractic Treatment?
Chiropractic care offers our patients many benefits, most notably improvements in their mobility and health. Not only does it loosen tight muscles, it also helps decrease immobility and discomfort associated with joint degeneration that occurs as we age. Many of our patients also enjoy increased energy and overall vitality and better sleep at night due to less body tension and stress. Chiropractic care provides the window of opportunity for patients to move and feel better, which helps them continue to work and can improve their sleep at night.
