Thank you annoucement published in CCA Connect:
The Canadian Chiropractic Association would like to sincerely thank Dr. Eric Jackson, Ottawa chiropractor, who served as chiropractic representative at the Canadian Forces (CF) Expert Panel on low back pain from September 16-21, 2013. The multi-disciplinary panel met to develop a proposed pathway for the management of low back pain for the members of the CF. This is the first time that chiropractors have been formally invited to be part of discussions on improving treatment for members of the military. The opportunities for increased access to chiropractic care were well received and the CCA is optimistic about the results of the discussions. Future discussions are planned between CF leadership and the CCA to continue to explore greater involvement of chiropractors in the delivery of NMSK care to members of the CF, including the offer from the CCA of significant support for any research component.
The Canadian Forces Health Services invests significant resources in the management of MSK conditions. MSK conditions are the leading cause of absenteeism and medical releases in the CF, and modern armies worldwide. The impacts are numerous, not only related to costs, but also on operational readiness of the CF. The CCA believes that the introduction of chiropractic services on base could have a positive impact on the delivery of care, and enhance health outcomes and performance.
